LOCAL BANK CHARGED BY MUNICIPAL BODY FOR UNPERMITTED CONSTRUCTION WORKS

A municipal body in Kalay in Sagaing region fined one of Myanmar’s leading local bank Myanmar Apex Bank for not seeking permission to build its bank branch building in the central Myanmar town, according to the Voice report.

The bank branch was opened in October 2013.

According to Kham Lyan Khaing, township development affairs chairman, the committee fined the bank K 1.8 million.

“It has been six months that the bank has constructed the building. There was no request for permission,” said the chairman.

“We have warned the other buildings which do not abide municipal rules and regulations,” said the same source.

The bank branch’s manager said that the headquarters would handle the case and the branch has no authority on the case.
