Low-cost GSM to sell in June

Low-cost GSM SIM cards will be available after the 1,500 K CDMA SIM Cards are being sold, according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

“We are closely monitoring the traffic of each Base Transceiver Station (BTS) daily. We are selling CDMA 800 MHz now because they have not many data traffic. If there is heavy the data traffic, we will start selling GSM SIM cards. We are monitoring over 2,000 BTS daily and we record the type of SIM cards. Thaung Tin, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology told the Telecommunication Operator Tender Evaluation and Selection.

It was held at the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RUMFCCI).

The 1,500 kyats CDMA SIM cards have been sold in populated areas of some regions and they will be sold again on May 20 with limit. Over three million of GSM and WCDMA SIM cards will be available in June.
