“We don’t allow the service if there is windy or tidal wave because there’s no safety. Those who want to ride the speed boats can take it at the jetty or ring to them. They will fetch you at the hotel. The speed boats go in turn. There are seven speedboats and they go non-stop. If you want to ride around here you can ride till 5 pm,” Kyaw Hoe of Chaungtha Hotel Zones Entrepreneur Association said.
At present there are seven speedboats and three banana boats. A ride along the beach cost K.5000 per person, K.6000 per person for a ride to white sand island, K.12000 per person for an hour ride along U-to river.
Banana boat is a ride on the shape of banana raft and can take 5 persons. The banana boat is pulled by a speed boat. In retro ski, 3 persons can sit and it was pull by a speed boat. In spitfire extreme 3 persons can ride and it was pulled by a speed boat.
There are 18 hotels and 40 bungalows in Chaung Tha. It is one of the major beaches in Myanmar and more local visitors visited Chaung Tha than foreign tourists visited. In 2011, there were over 101,000 vacationers from local and about 4,800 from abroad. In 2012, there were over 120,000 vacationers from local and about 13,000 from abroad.
Business has been good as more and more people are visitng the water sports facilities in Chaung Tha, the company said, adding that safety is the company’s top priority.
