Discussion in progress on heat energy technology (Photo - EMG)
Chinese CONCH company last week showed its technology to generate electricity from wasted heat, which is by-product of cement plants.
Dong Jian Fong, engineer from the Chinese cement giant, explained in the seminar on January 23 on the detail of such technology as well as its capacity to generate power.
The seminar took place at the head office of Ministry of Science and Technology in Yangon.
“The important thing is to acquire technology which can apply wasted heat energies. A 400-ton cement factory could generate at least 5 megawatt, which could light fourteen or fifteen villages,” Dr. Thein Oo Phoe Saw, head of Myanmar Technicians Association, said.
The leading technical expert added that this is a fresh technology, which is still new to the country, and it is the first ever discussion on the topic.
When asked about the possibility if Chinese CONCH will establish factories here, he replied, “They will not build cement factories. They just come to discuss about the technology”.
There is also pollution issue which the cement factories in the country need to solve besides energy plan. Dusts and particles at those factories are posing serious harm to the health of inhalers, he said.
